About Me (The Quick Summary)

I was born on Long Island in January of 1987, and have been presumably among the living since then. I enjoy cooking, baking, writing, and adding way too many activities to my schedule. Mostly I just sit around and make art. I am a 2009 graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a major in illustration (a BFA degree) and a minor in creative writing. I want to travel the world some day and I love dogs.

About Me (The Novelization)

I was born in January of 1987 somewhere on Long Island-- I don't remember the town, but chances are it was Port Jefferson. I grew up on Long Island, and lived in the same house for the entirety of my childhood. I have two brothers, one older and one younger. Despite being the middle child, I was still spoiled due to my status as the only girl. Luckily, I still turned out to be a relatively sensible person. I was always an avid reader with an overactive imagination; in elementary school I read up to three books at the same time, and could be seen reading as I wove my way through throngs of other children. I took up a number of hobbies throughout my childhood: gymnastics, horseback riding, creative writing, ceramics, tile painting, cooking, baking. I still write, cook, and bake today. The other hobbies, not so much.

When I entered my high school years, I started to discover what kinds of things were important to me, and who I was. However, I didn't decide what I wanted to do for a living until senior year. I'm the kind of person who will flounder around, undecided, for a long time, until I make a snap decision seemingly out of nowhere and stick to it no matter what. One day a representative from the Maryland Institute College of Art was talking about the school, and she mentioned that illustration was a major offered there. The moment the word "illustration" left her mouth, I decided to be an illustrator. I also decided to attend MICA as a full-time student, and to take on a minor in creative writing. I did those things, and am expecting my degree in May of this year.

Nowadays I lock myself up in my room or studio, turn on some cartoons, and draw and paint for hours at a time. I enjoy blogging, and as an avid amateur foodie I often photograph my cooking and post recipes online. I still read, though not as voraciously as I did in my childhood, and write both fiction and non-fiction to sooth my nerves. Once a year, on Thanksgiving, I will make a pecan pie; it's my prized recipe and absolutely no one who's tasted it has claimed to have had any better. I am also attempting to teach myself Italian, and then I'll move on to Japanese.

In the near future I plan to do some international travel (Italy and Japan are top on my list), live in every place possible, and adopt a dog. In the meantime I'll be saving up for said adventures, along with a new computer. Right now my greatest desires are to make my own ice cream and publish my comics. I believe the latter will be happening much sooner than the former.
